BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Volkan Doğru graduated from Robert College in 2004, where he was honored with The Dorothy İz Award. In the same year, he began his medical studies at Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine and obtained his medical degree in 2010. During his internship, he undertook a gastroenterology clerkship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, USA.

Between 2011 and 2016, he pursued residency training in general surgery at Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine, earning the title of Specialist in General Surgery. Following his specialization, he fulfilled his compulsory service by working for approximately two and a half years at Palandöken State Hospital in Erzurum.

In 2018, Dr. Doğru returned to Akdeniz University Hospital as a faculty member, dedicating his clinical and academic efforts primarily to colorectal surgery. In August 2019, he obtained certification from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), granting him eligibility to practice medicine in the United States. From July 2021 to November 2022, he served as a postdoctoral fellow in the Colorectal Surgery Division at New York University (NYU) Langone Health.

Since December 2022, Dr. Doğru has been a faculty member in the Department of General Surgery at Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine. He continues to provide clinical care and conduct research with a focus on colorectal surgery, while also contributing to education and academic development within the field of general surgery.
